Shut the Box 12

Each round begins with both players uncovering all their boxes (numbers). Each player then throws the dice and the player with the highest dice roll has the first turn. During each turn, the player throws two die. The total value of the dice roll is added and then the player decides which numbers he would like to cover. As an example: if a player rolls a 9, the player may choose 6,2 and 1 or any other combination of numbers which add up to nine. If a player rolls two 6, the total value of the throws is 12. The player may then choose to cover 7,3 and 2 or any other combination of numbers which add up to twelve. After his throw, the player's turn ends and the next player takes his turn.

 

Once all the numbers greater than 6 have been covered, players only throw one die during their turn. When a player is unable to cover his boxes (i.e. player rolls a 3 but only has 1 and 4 uncovered) he skips his turn. If both players skip their turns or if one player manages to cover all of his numbers, the round ends. Each player then determines his score by adding up all of his uncovered numbers. The player with the lowest score wins the round.
